What is remedial massage?
Massage as part of a remedial management program is about seeing and treating pain as part of a recovery process or a as part of your long term chronic condition symptom management.
The management of pain and discomfort has been a major consideration for as long as the human race has been able to experience pain and as more and more people seek to chose to take more responsibility for their own health and wellbeing, we as a society are becoming more aware that we can in fact influence and therefore improve our own pain levels, recovery and overall health.
It includes the assessment of the soft tissues of the body to help prevent and manage dysfunction, injury, pain or physical disorders. This is achieved by the physical, manual manipulation of the soft tissues with supportive advice on exercise and training. it can work to reduce swelling, improve joint mobility, mobilise contracted fiberous tissue or muscle spasms to give symptomatic relief of a range of injuries and conditions.
Pain management through physical therapies such as massage can help to improve the symptomatic relief of both acute and chronic pain caused by many conditions including:
